Morning Gathering
On our last Tuesday and Wednesday morning gathering, we all sat around in a circle, reflecting on the past year together. Students named their favorite classes, their favorite moments, and even what they would love to see for next year!
Thank you to Ms. Lorraine for also stopping by to wish our students a wonderful summer season AND help serve ice cream to our eager dessert lovers!
Live Wax Museum
Our recent Live Wax Museum wasn't just a history lesson – it was a time warp! Students transcended the role of observers, transforming into the very figures they researched. The dedication poured into their portrayals – from costumes to character quirks – breathed life into these historical icons. Witnessing Cleopatra, Gigalmesh recount his epic journey, and Artemisia I strategize a naval battle was truly awe-inspiring.
This wasn't just about memorizing dates. Students delved into the essence of these civilizations, capturing their mannerisms, dress, and even the spark in their eyes. The museum became a vibrant tapestry woven from research, creativity, and a deep connection to the past. It was a testament to the power of experiential learning, leaving us all feeling a profound sense of immersion in these ancient worlds.
The success of the Live Wax Museum extends far beyond the event itself. Students emerged with a newfound appreciation for history, a deeper understanding of different cultures, and a confidence that comes from embodying the stories they learned. It was a beautiful reminder that the past isn't static – it's alive, waiting to be explored and brought to life.
Wednesday
Field Day
What better way to end an incredible year than to enjoy a full day of festivities!!!! After morning gathering, we split everyone in 2 teams, and began our field day fun! Students competed in some traditional field day activities such as : basketball dribbling, bean bag toss, potato sack race, three-legged race, an egg/spoon race, and a Frisbee competition! We then moved on to a friendly water balloon battle, and lots of slip and slide fun! And of course, no festivity is complete without a refreshing ice cream treat! Lastly, Ms. Annawyn closed out our day with a short yet meaningful mediation and send-off into the summer months! Students also received their yearbooks and enjoyed book-signing and reflecting on fond memories! LOTS of emotions! We were all overjoyed with the excitement of the day but also saddened to see it end for the summer!
