Tuesday
We kicked off our last Tuesday class of the semester creating marble runs out of cardboard box lids and straws. Everyone was given straws, scissors and glue! Students incorporated critical thinking skills in order to create pathways with turns and obstacles for their ball to work its way through. We finished up our last page in the writing portfolio that had been worked on monthly all year and added a summer plans page! Numeracy ended our day with addition skills resulting in the creation of beaded bracelets!
Wednesday
Our last Wednesday class for the semester started out with time for everyone to look through yearbooks and get a chance to sign each others. We also took some time to visit the big room before the older kids did their Wax Museum presentations to learn a little about the historic figures each had chosen.
During out last cooking class, we made sourdough brownies from scratch, which included melting down the chocolate. Our brownies were shared with the entire co-op during our end of the day ice cream celebration. We took the second half of the day easy and enjoyed lots of outdoor time including water balloons and a slip n slide!
Everyone went home with a box that included work from the entire semester including writing portfolios (Tuesday class only), All About Me packet folders, 3rd semester cooking class cookbook and a botany/gardening book with pages from each week's topics!
I hope everyone had a great year and has a wonderful summer!
