Famous People



  • Tutankhamun: Young pharaoh of 18th dynasty Egypt. His well-preserved tomb revealed treasures about ancient Egyptian life.

  • Hatshepsut: Powerful female pharaoh who ruled Egypt for over 20 years. Known for her building projects, including a magnificent mortuary temple.

  • Cleopatra VII: Last active pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. Known for intelligence and beauty, she played a significant role in Roman politics.

  • Socrates: Athenian philosopher considered the father of Western philosophy. Pioneered the Socratic method of asking questions to stimulate critical thinking.

  • Aristotle: Brilliant philosopher and scientist who studied under Plato. Made significant contributions across various fields like physics, biology, logic, and ethics.

  • Alexander the Great: Powerful Macedonian king who conquered a vast empire stretching from Greece to India. Renowned for military genius and spreading Greek culture.

  • Julius Caesar: Brilliant Roman general and statesman who played a key role in the rise of the Roman Empire. Assassinated in 44 BCE, but his legacy continues to influence the world.

  • Augustus Caesar: First Roman emperor and founder of the Roman Principate. Ushered in an era of peace and prosperity for the empire.

  • Marcus Aurelius: Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher known for his wisdom and "Meditations," a collection of personal writings on philosophy, ethics, and life.

Project: Cleopatra's Royal Court

Civilization: Ancient Egypt

Character: Royal Scribe

Costume:

  • Ankle-length white linen robe

  • Colorful sash at the waist (ideally blue and gold)

  • Wig with short dark curls

  • Reed pen tucked behind the ear

  • Small pouch for papyrus scrolls

Props:

  • Papyrus scrolls with hieroglyphs (can be drawn on paper)

  • Palette for mixing ink colors (can be a small wooden board with colored squares)

  • Reed brush for writing

Scribe: Greetings, honored guest! Welcome to the court of Pharaoh Cleopatra VII. I am T scribe, recorder of royal decrees and chronicler of grand events.


(Point to the scrolls)


These scrolls hold the stories of our great pharaoh.  Did you know Cleopatra was not only a powerful ruler, but also spoke nine languages?


(Show the ink palette and brush)


We use natural pigments like these to create the colorful hieroglyphs you see on the scrolls. Each symbol tells a part of the story.


(Offer to answer questions about hieroglyphs or Cleopatra's reign)
